Painter Salvador Dali owned a pet ocelot named Babou that was seen with him at many places he visited, including a trans-continental ocean voyage aboard the SS France.
When a diner at a New York restaurant was alarmed by the ocelot, Dali told her that it was a common domestic cat that he had "painted over in an op-art design".
