"Patterns in nature have always inspired me. In my inlay experience I worked with wood before stone. There were patterns in palm wood that could have been taken right from the coat of a cheetah. It felt so recombinant and awe inspiring to see the same things in stone, blossoms and branches in agates that could be japanese silk paintings. I find human patterns searching for control, while nature celebrates the chaos, even if there is a grand pattern at play. These earrings are a study in the pattern of natural Colina Verde Variscite compared with the human pattern of checkerboard that I created in my studio from Lucin Variscite and Black Jade."
