Thief & Bandit is an independently handmade line out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Founded and created by Amie Cunningham, this slow fashion line utilizes quality organic fabrics with unique hand drawn prints. Their garments are splattered with multi colored designs that express the natural elements of our planet; desert florals, peacock feathers, branches with foliage, specks of pollen, and other various leafage and aspects. A colorfully boho line that prides itself with trustworthy fashion ethics, Thief & Bandit draws in a crowd that has a special admiration for the humble, yet lighthearted feminine vibe.
All of their fabric is hand printed in house, via giant silkscreen on organic jersey fabric, with non-toxic water based ink. They begin as ink drawings and are then burned into the silk screens. Their products are made to order, and hand sewn by talented independent seamstresses, based on trustworthy interpersonal relationships. As a result, their products are one of kind, found nowhere else, imbued with craftsmanship, and varied in color, shading, texture, shape and grain, all inherent in their goods.
At first look, I immediately found all the patterns and prints to be excellent choices to layer atop other sheer, lace and patterned garments. From dresses to tops, and skirts to leggings, their pieces come in various base colors like sage, black, bay blue, lilac, lavender and other beautiful shades. Their prints also come in great variety like pale pink, white and blue thistles, and speckled gold birds, inspired by themes such as the Audubon journals, native to Eastern Canada.
Here at Altar, we are lucky to carry the Black Desert Floral Shift Dress, Taupe Thistle Shift Dress, and matching sets of the Desert Floral and Cactus Underwear. All versatile pieces, these can be styled over tights and boots, under your favorite jacket for a cute fall look, or on their own for warmer weather.
