Staff Style Guide: Wedding Edition

May 20, 2019

Wedding season is upon us, and if your closet is anything like mine the piles of band t-shirts and black vintage jeans probably aren't going to make the cut. That's why our staff has teamed up to create this wedding edition style guide; to give those of you nervously sweating at the thought of impending wedding shopping some wedding-themed fashion advice!

Amy: "It's been brought to my attention that you aren't really supposed to wear black to a wedding (though, I am wearing this black jumpsuit to my cousin Rachel's wedding at the end of June, look out) But I am trying to branch out! Wearing color is a lot easier when you find your go-tos that work for you, and for me that means muted color. Some approachable colors for me are mustard, rust, and as I was pleasantly surprised, this Hyacinth Jumpsuit from Altar Houseline. Jumpsuit is the new dress and ALL of Cassie's jumpsuits are amazing in their ability to be belted and dressed down paired with sandals or elevated with more elegant details. When your buying sustainable fashion it's all about the value per wear, so getting a lot of mileage out of a piece purchased for a special event feels even better.

Ceara: "I adore this soft and dreamy dress! Not only is it the perfect color for summer, but the material is breezy and lightweight making it a great choice for a wedding in warmer weather. If you're looking for something sweet and sexy, this wrap dress has it all!" (Ceara is wearing the Mustard Polka Dot Wrap Dress by Cameo.)

Elizabeth: "I chose this Whimsy & Row jumpsuit because I absolutely love this brand and the fit is so great! This jumpsuit, in particular, is super easy to dress up or down, and would fit perfectly at either a fancy, upscale wedding or a chill beach wedding." (Elizabeth is wearing the Black Floral Maya Jumpsuit paired with the Silver Wadjet Necklace in Moonstone by Stray jewelry)

Cassie: "Shift dresses can give you mileage in a lot of contexts and they always look modern and relevant. This ultra blue silky cupro one makes me feel so chic and wears like silk (without being as fussy to launder). We have these in beautiful slate grey and ultra blue, with more colors coming soon." (Cassie is wearing our own Altar Houseline's Cupro Shift Dress in ultra blue with the warm red Circle Wallet by Baggu and Lu in the Frey earrings as accessories.)

LaToya: "Being a Libra queen from Portland, I always seem to be drawn to earthy color stories and soft, luxe fabrics. I also like a chic, effortless look so I can really enjoy the celebration! I envision that the wedding I'm attending to be in early Spring, or on a crisp Fall day." (LaToya is wearing the Altar Houseline Green Cupro Tank Top and Holy Voids Wrap Pant with the Adder jewelry Hoop and Tassel necklace as an accessory.)

Niah: "Yellow is my go to Spring color, so I had to choose this super flattering linen dress by Whimsy and Row. It's light-weight and comfy for a warm outdoor wedding, and I've paired it here with a light, floral cover for a more grandma-approved look!" (Niah is wearing the Gold Poppy Dress and Floral Frances Duster by Whimsy & Row with Iron Oxide Little Lunar Earrings and Triple Moon Choker in Moonstone.)
