A new addition to our expanding serpent collection, we are welcoming the Serpent Kiss Earrings to Dea Dia. An often maligned species, we find beauty in the powerful serpent. The shedding of the skin represents rebirth, renewal and transformation which are favorite themes of Dea Dia designer & owner, Jessica Lawson. They make the perfect totem or guardian!
These earrings were first sculpted by hand in wax in our high desert studio (home to many snakes - the desert - not the studio!) before being cast in recycled metals with sterling silver posts and backs in DTLA. We love asymmetry so please be aware of the post placement: 1 on the head and 1 on the tail. The Serpent Kiss Earrings are available in recycled brass, sterling silver or gold plated. FYI: the sterling silver and gold plated styles are made to order and may take a couple of weeks to ship.
Please note, our brass is a mixture of 75% copper and 25% zinc and is lead and nickel free. Many people experience green discoloring on their skin from brass. This is due to the metals mixing with your particular oils and ph levels. This reaction is harmless and will wash off.
If you don't like the discoloration, we suggest you order gold plated, sterling silver or solid gold. To minimize this, you can periodically paint the inside of your brass ring with clear nail polish or lacquer, avoid mixing with moisture and sweat, and and take off before going to bed or applying lotions or oils.
Stunning and elemental pieces by Dea Dia have been among our favorites for YEARS. Designer, Jessica Lawson, hand fabricates these heirlooms in her studio in the high desert of California. They capture abstract yet organic sensibilities that hold an elevated sense of medium.
This item is shipped directly from the maker! This means you may receive your order in multiple shipments (if you are ordering more than one item) and if it is being made-to-order, please be mindful of the designer's individually allocated lead times! We are proudly connecting our customers and the designers we love in a direct way in the hopes that we can support other small businesses in tandem with our own!
