In Greek mythology, Harpies are depicted as birds of prey with the face and body of a human woman. Originally referred to as wind spirits, the iconography of the Harpy became associated with violence and cruelty as they were later described as being used to abduct humans for punishment and torture at the command of other various gods and spirits including the Furies and Zeus himself.
These expertly handcrafted hoop earrings draw from the imagery of the harpy with sterling silver etched wings and semi-precious gemstone faces.
